After four-plus years of posing for photos as a completely untrained amateur, I can tell you one thing for certain: striking the perfect pose is most definitely a learned skill. Holden has always been patient with me, though certain long-running issues became the subject of gentle teasing. For example, I used to have a tendency to squeeze my fingers together and hold them rigid, like a flipper or a paddle. He would suggest I hold or touch something, and if that didn’t work, ask “Could you do literally anything different with your left hand, please?”
Blogs like this one are great resources for us. So many gorgeous professional photos with wonderful ideas for settings, costumes, and those pesky, elusive poses. For last Saturday’s shoot, we pulled several images from blogs like Amanda’s and held them on our desktop for reference. You see me in one of those poses in this photo, though the professional shot was a female solo. We had taken a lot of me by myself, so we were looking for every opportunity to turn an inspiring idea into a couples’ photo.

Sometimes when I’m editing my photos I find myself thinking ‘What the hell?’ Background, pose so many things to mess up. Fun though 😀
Same! Holden is usually aware of background noise, but we are often surprised with what shows up in the raw images. 😉
