We knew that Hurricane Irma had been downgraded to tropical storm status, by the time she reached our area, and that we would not be expecting anything near the devastation that she brought to Florida and the Caribbean. Still, the local news warned of high winds, flooding, and likely power outages. Fortifying ourselves with bottled water, batteries, candles and assorted emergency items, Holden and I settled in and waited for nature’s fury. I was probably tempting fate by using something as goofy as a color-changing candle in my storm-readiness preparations, but he saw the humor in it. And a photo opportunity, as well. ~C

We live in a wooded area, so the high winds were frightening, but we came out okay. I was hesitant to post these, but I’m glad we did! ~C

Thank you! We have had this candle for years, and we aren’t sure why it never occurred to us to make a photo with it. Sometimes blessings are hidden in big storms, I guess. 🙂
