Wood If I Could

Well, guys, we will have even less of a need for the warmth of a fire in Texas than we do here, so it looks like we’ll be leaving a couple of very neatly stacked — and aged to perfection — rows of firewood in the garage for the new owners of the house. I know Texas can get pretty cold in the winter (for about a week or two), and nearly every home in our price range that we’ve seen on Zillow has a fireplace, but they’re all the decorative gas log variety. Then again, ours was too, until I took it upon myself to convert it…

And a big update on the home improvement front: The kitchen remodel is set to start this coming Thursday! We aren’t exactly looking forward to five or six days of eating takeout food while the demolition and installation progress, but we’re certainly hoping that the hardship (and expense) will be worth it, when we see the finished product! We’ll be resting up this evening, as tomorrow’s project will be emptying all the cabinets and drawers in there. Have fun, y’all! ~C

    Have fun while your kitchen is in shambles. Hopefully it will be worth the wait.
    Bummer on leaving behind the firewood. Something is magical about a wood burning fireplace hearing the wood pop and sizzle.

    As to aged to perfection, that is you. WOW.

      lol, it was Holden’s idea to add “stacked” and “aged to perfection” to the caption. 😉 We’ve enjoyed every single fire we’ve made here, and we’re selfishly hoping for a colder-than-normal winter to have a few more. But first, this kitchen…
