Leave Me Hangin’

In the interest of making our garage into a useful and more organized place, we bought and installed a large shelving unit last weekend. (We brought two smaller units with us but they, not surprisingly, are already full of other things that we also brought to Texas). The first box to take occupancy on the new shelves contains all of the framed photos that we didn’t have room to hang. We knew this was coming, of course — The walls of our formal living room in Atlanta were adorned with tons of school portraits of our sons, and we designated only the hallway in Texas for these keepsakes. We hung up our favorites and the others, sadly, are now in storage. The selection process was brutal.

The artwork you see here is part of a set of four that Holden was given many years ago by his mother (a yard sale find, if I recall correctly.) We thought the simple black wooden frames would look good above the headboard in the guest bedroom, and since there’s a more colorful and ornate piece on an adjacent wall. You can thank Holden for the idea of having me wear fishnets for this one, and for using a black-and-white edit. I am sad to report that the bruise on my left cheek is not a sex bruise, but one I obtained by backing into a doorknob while moving a heavy box. Maybe next time… ~C

We hang a lot of our pictures and achievements on a wall in the storage room. Our wall of memories. I go in there and look to feel old.

    The picture hanger is looking🔥🔥🔥🔥

Oh, I know what you mean about feeling old! We have a trio of pictures that includes a studio portrait of me and my boys when they were little, another of us three at my wedding to Holden, and a third from my youngest’s wedding. Nearly the same number of years separate the photos, so it’s definitely humbling! 😉 ~C
