From late afternoon on Saturday the 15th. We had rented a two-person kayak from an outfit 10 miles west of Chattanooga, and left shore around 11:00am for a leisurely excursion on the Tennessee River. The first part of the trip was against the current and — even though we consider ourselves to be experienced kayakers — we grew weary sooner than expected. Fortunately, we found a great place to paddle ashore and rest before the return trip. My sore muscles were in need of a warm shower when we got back to the hotel! ~C
