Still Glowing

0128

After announcing to our Instagram followers that we would soon be deleting our account, an acquaintance there sent us a private message asking why. We gave a standard answer — direct and polite, though not the kind of in-depth explanation that a closer friend would receive — and reminded her that we would continue to post daily on this site. Her reply rankled us a bit:

“But it’s so much easier to follow you here.”

We did not respond to her, but it did prompt a discussion between Holden and me. We know that it takes an effort to follow us on this site. We thought a lot about that before we deactivated from Tumblr, wondering how many of the 8,000+ “followers” from that site would join us here. (The answer? About 50.) Our readers have to take the time to bookmark our URL, or to subscribe to posts via email. Those of you who spend the time to comment are making an even larger effort. And those who contribute photos for publication here? TONS of thought and energy are spent.

To continue to follow us, to engage with us, demonstrates that we are valued by you. And because of that, each and every one of you is important to us. We realize that we don’t have the following of any number of Internet “personalities,” but we always reply to comments and emails because we love the little community we have created here. Thank you, one and all!

[Tonight’s photo is a drastic re-edit of a post from October ’14 that we didn’t treat with enough care the first time around. We like this one so much better!]

The photograph is very erotica. Wow.

Count me as one of the people who look forward to all of your posts and no I do not think it is hard to follow.

My answer word change it it was password protected and one had to change the password every 14 days to something new and unique.

Thank you both for your labor of love.

It’s obviously up to you to post wherever you wish – you don’t owe anyone anything – but I would turn around the comment that your follower on Twitter wrote. It’s so much easier to post on Tumblr! Anyhow, we follow you here and find it pretty easy to get email notifications.

Indeed, Tumblr is a great platform for sharing one’s work and drawing casual followers. Sadly, though, it’s also a great place to steal other people’s content and post it without attribution, or to reblog great (uncredited) posts and add links to your own blogs, or to remove captions from creators and reblog with your own words that completely negate the original intent of the image. We definitely had enough of that. 🙁

There is a big difference between scrolling and glancing and taking the time to appreciate your artistry and the point you’re making and even feeling part of it. If people can’t take the time to open an email, well, fuck ’em.

From your fingers to God’s ears, Ronna! We couldn’t have said it better ourselves! 🙂 On Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram or any other site, we tried to keep our “followings” limited so that we could fully digest and enjoy the content. There is a reward in being picky and choosy about the people in which you invest your time.

Yes, its your content–beautiful at that. YOU choose what, and where you will share it. I love Instagram and follow lots of great artists–some more risque than others. Some go private. Some get deleted and reopen under “new management.” I ADORE your blog!

Thanks! Glad you understand the situation — Instagram took a lot of effort, given their restrictions, and Tumblr was…well, the less said the better. This site is ours and we call the shots. It’s a good feeling! ~C

You are so kind, thank you! We never understood the rationale of having thousands of posts on one’s feed, so that you never have the time to give them all consideration. Even if we had time to post more than one or two entries in a day, we would be afraid of “flooding the market” and becoming just another piece of cyber-noise. 🙂

I have no problem tracking your email I subscribed to you joined
Both sites just to see your work your work is better than a lot of others I’ve seen. I find it it to be perfect in lighting and pose takes practice and passion for the art. As someone who works with canvas I to love great art
