And Hello, 2020!

So, we are looking to get a do-over on the start to the new year. Don’t get us wrong — A fair amount of New Year’s Day was happily spent as pictured above. On Thursday, however, sometime while we were both at work, a limb fell and pierced our roof, into the attic, leaving a hole for rainwater to pour in. We got home after dark, and didn’t see the damage, and it happened above the spare bedroom pictured here, which we almost never enter. Consequently, we didn’t notice that anything was wrong until Friday morning, once the water began to damage the dining room, directly under this bedroom. I got a roofer to come and do an emergency patch on the hole, and later found a contractor to come out and pull down the bedroom ceiling before it collapsed from the weight of the water. But currently our house is loud as hell, with dehumidifiers and industrial fans running, in an attempt to dry out the ceilings and floors. Oof. ~C

Oh noooo!!! SO SORRY to hear about your calamity! πŸ₯Ί Our thoughts are with you as you recover from this! πŸ₯°

Last year, while having our new roof put on, a roofer stepped in a hole and came through our living room ceiling when we weren’t home, and we returned to a terrible mess and a terrified kitty! πŸ™€ Not fun at all!

P.S. GREAT PIC, and love that you took the time to share with all of us! 😍 HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🍾

My finger hovered over the “like” button as I couldn’t tell whether it “liked” the photo or the hole in your roof πŸ˜‰ However, the beautiful photo won out, so I wish you a Happy New Year and a happy new roof πŸ™‚ x

Thank you! We’d have understood what the Like was for. πŸ˜‰ And it’s funny, the patch the roof requires is about the size of a dinner plate, but man, did we take in a lot of water through that tiny opening! ~C

    Belated Happ New Year .

Several years ago, I was out of town for work. A storm came to town during my absence and several trees were affected by the storm.

Naturally, the trees chose my roof to land on. New roof and gutters.

    Sorry it happened.

Yikes! It’s the worst, something like that happening when you’re away from home. We hope you’re having a happy new year, as well! πŸ™‚ ~C

Oh noooo!!! I’m so sorry to hear this. Let is know if we can help. Sadly though, we’re not contractors.

Despite all that, you two were sweet enough to entice us all with this photo of a peeking Holden and your always fabulous bottom. Thank you, and here’s hoping the rest of 2020 goes much better for you!
