Home Companions #3

As much as I appreciate the beautiful natural light in these shots, along with the oh-so-easy professional model’s pose I was encouraged to mimic, I was a little disappointed at how pale my skin looks. Even in February, I’m typically sporting at least the fading hint of a tan line that was created the summer before, but not now. I do try to extend myself a bit of grace — We moved here on May 1st of last year, so we spent the entire spring busy with furious last-minute packing, and then pretty much the entire summer indoors at the new house, unpacking and settling in.

The tan lines will return in 2026, though, of this I am certain. Holden and I will celebrate our 20th anniversary in a few months, and last week we booked ourselves a beautiful place to stay. The original plan was to return to the Caribbean for the first time since our honeymoon, taking advantage of everything an all-inclusive resort could offer. We’ve since scaled back the budget for the trip, for reasons I won’t go into, and decided instead to embrace our new home state and visit the Texas gulf coast. A shopping trip for new swimsuits is in my immediate future, and I plan on buying two: a conservative one for taking the little ones to a pool or a lake, and one with far less fabric when it’s just the two of us. 😉 ~C

You look super in both photos.

Using Bing (Because It’s Not Google) web search indicates there are five beaches in your new home state of Texas where clothing is optional.

Don’t forget to pack the sun screen.

    Enjoy!

I pray for any semblance of a tan line from our short summers.

Padre island snorkeling!?!? Apparently clear warm water, white sandy beaches and lots of fish.
