Holden added a bit of a retro filter to these photos, after a discussion we had while preparing them for publication. So many of the elements in them suggest to us a young woman stripping down to her knee socks and underwear, stealing away to her parents’ basement to page through a Playgirl that her friend had secretly given her. Making herself comfortable on a bean bag chair, she let her eyes and her fingers wander, hoping with all her might that her parents would not return from shopping for just a few more minutes. Now we have the Internet, of course, and sexual awakenings routinely take place while staring at a screen. Back in the day, though… ~C

We never had Playgirl in the house when I was young, but my dad never hid his Playboys and I’d always look. Maybe that explains a lot about me 🙂
