Greeting

0614a

On our second night in Seattle, we had the remarkable good fortune to chat face-to-face with two friends who we came to know through this site. They came by our place for drinks and laughs and lively conversation, and we are so grateful that they put forth the effort to see us! For the record, I did not greet them at the door in the nude, as pictured, though we do wonder how that would have turned out…

Below, one of SeaWorld’s airborne orcas. Look out, splash zone patrons!

Dear H & C have really loved your beautiful, arty, sexy body shots and been following you for some time, but have not been enjoying your recent shots of animals at SeaWorld, especially the Orcas.
Please watch the documentary Blackfish one day – it will bring tears to your eyes and is absolutely heartbreaking to realise how we have stolen and kidnapped these magnificent ocean creatures from their mothers and their pods into a life of servitude and abuse in a comparative goldfish bowl.
I know SeaWorld have recently stopped their Orca breeding program but they still have these beautiful and intelligent fish penned up in minute spaces to perform tricks for us – such a sad cruel life of abuse for a supremely clever and emotionally intelligent species.

We find it very unfortunate that you would follow our posts for a while, but only speak up for the first time in order to scold us for our entertainment choices. For the record, we are aware of both the Blackfish documentary and the dozens of critical articles that refute its claims. We know that activists might find it incongruous that we would visit zoos and aquariums while purporting to be animal lovers, but we will have to agree to disagree. We would never support an enterprise that was found to be abusing the animals in its charge.
