Two years ago, the “first choice” photo that we posted in this setting — the doorway of our rental spot in Seattle — was presented with the predictable headless crop. Holden wanted to post this one, instead, but I wasn’t in favor of revealing so much of my face. Maybe I’ve become more bold, or maybe it’s because today is his birthday, but I let him take a second bite of the apple for this vacation outtake series. I’m glad I did, though, because I realized that this image has so many interesting interpretations. The woman at the door is clearly greeting someone in the most provocative way possible, but her posture suggests that she is also communicating with someone who is with her in the apartment. So, who’s arriving and who is already there…? ~C
